Hyper Horology

Few brands are breathing Avant-Garde in horology the way Roger Dubuis does. Hyper Horology does not only refer to the horological and technical marvel they bring in their watches. It certainly also refers to their design, which bridges horology and art in a very natural and self-confident way. Roger Dubuis triggers the imagination, and every single model in recent years is a piece of art.

Roger Dubuis Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up” at Watches and Wonders 2021

During Watches and Wonders 2021, the brand takes the occasion to make the Art component a bit more explicit. Roger Dubuis announced a partnership with two Urban creative artists. Under the concept “Urban Art Tribe” LA Tattoo artist Dr. Woo and French street artist Gully enter a long-term collaboration with Roger Dubuis. This will obviously result in sharing elements of their creative process with clients of the brand. More to follow on this.

Luminescent diamonds on the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up”

The Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up”, that is presented this week, is a more visual example of Hyper Horology at work. Roger Dubuis is the first to feature luminescent diamonds in different colors in the bezel of the watch. Two processes are patented by the brand to make this work. First, a luminescent material is placed in the grooves underneath the diamond, that keeps the diamonds in place. The second patent has to do with a process of painting components on the movement. This painting allows the components to shine and highlight the star-shaped bridge in the dark.

Imagine a situation where its fully dark, while your Excalibur is shining its movement, supported by a colorful, glowing diamond-set bezel. Witnessing the Northern Light was already on my bucket list. Wearing a Glow Me Up in the dark was just added to that..

Roger Dubuis did it again

However, witnessing the Northern Light will probably be more achievable as the Excalibur Flying Tourbillon “Glow Me Up”. This timepiece will retail at $ 215,000. Only 8 customers will have the privilege of their own, highly exclusive Glow in the Dark party.

Roger Dubuis did it again. In their own natural way they easily bridge the gap between High end horology and Art.

Usually their catalogue is a healthy mix of collectible watches ranging in price from relatively affordable to somewhat a bit more expensive, to put it mildly.  The catalogue offers 57 lots and the list is diverse. Yes, the regular Daytonas, Royal Oaks and variety of Pateks are included, but also a 1940’s Grana military watch, […]

Rolex Submariner – introducing a new movement

The no-date Rolex Submariner reference 114060 is a popular watch. Actually every single steel sports watch from the crowned watch manufacturer enjoys a solid and several year long waiting list. We know that Rolex released their first Submariner in 1953. We also acknowledge that Submariner today is one of the strongest performing models in their collection. […]

5 years of Independence with Norqain- 5 new watches

The story of Norqain so far reads as a true success story. When I first met Ben and his crew in 2018 the operation was small but the ambitions, enthusiasm and mindset were of a larger scale: Something was going to happen here. And it did. With the Adventure and Freedom series the first foundation […]
