Montblanc Iced Sea and Rieussec novelties at Watches and Wonders 2024

Montblanc is continuing on the successful path they took two years ago with the Iced Sea

In 2022 Montblanc introduced the first diver watch in their collection, the (1858) Iced Sea. The brand added a unique “glacier” touch to the range, confirming the origins of the brand name. The glacier-patterned dials have quickly become very recognizable and give the Iced Sea a distinctive look. A range of special “0 oxygen” limited editions followed quickly and this year Montblanc is further elaborating on the theme. From their Watches and Wonders novelties we pick the two Iced Sea Automatic Date pieces and (now for something completely different…) we highlight the new Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph.

Montblanc Iced Sea Automatic Date Red Dial

Iced Sea Automatic Date
What remains is the good basis of the Iced Sea range. The Automatic Date is encased in a robust 41mm stainless steel body that brings durability and comfort for outdoor activities. This red one is a stunner. The glacier-patterned dial works really well with the dark red colour. The “Mer de Glace”, the sea of ice on the Montblanc Massif, is an ongoing inspiration for the brand and not only reflected in the dial but also on the caseback, which you should always check at Montblanc.

Iced Sea Automatic Date Bronze Edition

The bronze edition is essentially the same watch, but the colour and material change couldn’t make a bigger difference. This bronze edition comes with a bi-colour unidirectional anodized aluminum bezel, a 3D engraving on the bronze-coated titanium case back, and an interchangeable black rubber strap with brown outline and fine adjustment system. It is water-resistant to 300 meters, as is the red version.

Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph

Montblanc Nicolas Rieuses

Another ballgame is this Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec. Tapping in on a different background of the company, in a different price range and to a different audience. The Chronograph celebrates 100 years of Montblanc’s famous Meisterstück writing instrument, and has specific design elements from the iconic fountain pen. Limited to 500 pieces, the timepiece comes in a 43 mm stainless steel case with an interchangeable black calf leather strap with alligator print. A classic type of watch.
