The Summer Holiday is getting closer, raising the yearly dilemma: What watch to wear? Three suggestions…

Although the weather in northern Europe is still in denial, the summer is really knocking on our doors. In a few weeks time many of us will enjoy holidays which usually take place in sunny, beachy environments.

The returning challenge for us watch geeks is of course to choose the ultimate summer watch to wear. Finding one is of course matter of taste and budget, and criteria might differ from person to person. However, my personal assumption would be that a great summer watch should be fun, colourful, waterproof and not (overly) expensive. With those criteria in mind I picked 4 recently introduced watches that should be up for the job.

1) TAG Heuer Formula 1/Kith

Echoing the original 1986 piece, the recently launched TAG Heuer Formula 1/Kith comes in a good variety of colours and dial variations. All limited to 1350 pieces, the watches sparked the beginning of a hype when launched but that didn’t took off completely. Good for us, as the Kith is available for close to the retail price which is around $1500. 100% fun from one of the most established brands around.

2) NOMOS Tangente Date 38 in 31 colours

NOMOS Glashutte made an appearance at Watches and Wonders for the first time this year, and they did it with a bang. No less the 31 new colour variations of their best-selling Tangente were presented, each available in a limited edition of 175. Funny names, funky colours and a great match for those who want to remain stylish on the wrist even in the summer. What’s very pleasant is that NOMOS is giving a discount of 175 euros on every watch, bringing the price close to 2,000 euros. A nice buyers bonus that can be spent on cocktails..

3) Norqain Freedom 60 GMT 40mm

Our friends at Norqain are always good for a nice summer proposition, and the recently launched Freedom 60 40mm with Ice Blue dial ticks quite some boxes. The 40mm steel watch with bracelet is actually a great all-rounder for all seasons and the ice blue dial gives it the good vibe for those who prefer the summer touch but do not spend much time on the beach or in the sea this year. Around $4500 it’s a bit more expensive than the other options, but you don’t have to take it off when back home again..

Regardless of what watch you choose, I wish you all a great summer! Don’t forget to visit our DailyWatch summer sale..

Geneva Watch Days 2024- some of the highlights

The trip to Geneva was short and compressed this year. In three days I visited 16 brands, all located in or in the proximity of the Beau Rivage hotel. When I look at my social media timelines the talking pieces this year are the Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing, with 1.65mm the thinnest mechanical wristwatch ever, and […]

Three great micro brand divers below $1500

The micro brand segment is on the rise. With rising prices and long waiting lists for established players it becomes more attractive for the average collector to look outside the box and consider lesser-known brands on more affordable price levels. And if you make that step, you’ll be surprised by the variety, the passion and […]
