TAG Heuer celebrates the Carrera at W&W 2023

TAG Heuer is kicking off Watches&Wonders with a great variety of novelties and full spotlights on the icon that celebrates: The Carrera. 5 new variations will be launched in Geneva, showing the full variety this model brings.

5 new variations on the Carrera theme

The line-up starts with the purists choice, a 39mm Chronograph available with blue or black dial. The chrono is inspired by the “glass box” design. The case is topped with a sapphire crystal which has a domed shape, quite similar to the 1970’s versions. the curve flows seamlessly over the tachymeter scale, giving the watch cool aesthetics. A great and harmonic piece.

The new Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon takes the same platform as the Chrono and places it into high horology. At the 6 position an aperture reveals a tourbillon cage. The watch is powered by the in-house tourbillon movement, TH20-09, COSC certified with a 65-hour power reserve. Designed to reflect the beauty of the tourbillon, the watch has a curved sapphire crystal and subtly curved flange and indexes on the dial. The “glassbox effect” counteracts the effects of gravity on the mechanical movement’s accuracy.

Another Chronograph that hits the market comes in 42mm and is inspired by the original 1963 version. Also with blue and black dials, a simple round case with fluid integrated lugs and ergonomic pushers. The dial has orange and red accents across the dial and on the hour markers, breathing “racing” all over the place. This is where the Carrera comes from..

Boasting more slimmer and slighly less sporty proportions, the new Carrera Date 36mm taps into a different market. It doesn’t scream Motor racing, but is in fact representing another angle of the Carrera heritage. Powered by the new Caliber 7 automatic movement, the watch comes in 4 dial variation: deep blue, pastel green, warm silver and bright pink. A great illustration that a Carrera is not necessarily a chronograph..

Let’s save the most flashy and expensive piece for last. Here’s the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde. Following the piece of last year, this watch is the ultimate expression of TAG Heuer’s drive to combine advanced innovation with bold creativity. Featuring 124 custom-made lab-grown diamonds of a total on 15.5 carats on the aluminum bezel and bracelet, the design element and the innovative setting techniques should almost make you forget that this piece houses the Caliber Heuer 02 Tourbillon Nanograph, a sold and versatile tourbillon.

From a trendy date only to innovative Plasma Diamant and Tourbillons, the TAG Heuer might have turned 60, the model is as youthful and diverse as ever. All these pieces will be available shortly after Watches & Wonders.
