While “iconic” is an often-used label to highlight and designate watches, few watches can rightfully claim to be iconic. One of those watches certainly is the Panerai Luminor, for long a cornerstone in the brands’ collection.
Being a bit under the radar in recent years, the brand decided to make 2025 the year of the Luminor Marina and at Watches and Wonders the illustrious model comes back in the spotlight. 4 new models in steel and 1 in titanium are the result. “Never change a winning design”, must have been the main thought when developing the new versions, and for the watch fans it’s clear at first sight that all the characteristic elements have been preserved. However, under the hood a lot has changed to make the Luminor Marina completely up to date.
2025 Luminor Marina
The new models—PAM03312 (black dial), PAM03313 (blue dial), PAM03314 (white dial), and PAM03323 (light blue dial with steel bracelet) all have a steel 44mm case and are joined by a green dialed titanium version, PAM03325. We’ll get back to that one later.
The steel versions are crafted from AISI 316LVM steel, the 44mm cases are now 12% slimmer and 15% lighter, which improves ergonomics and wearability. Another standout feature is the unprecedented 500m water resistance, a first for the Luminor Marina series, making these watches as dive-ready as they are stylish.
New P.980 movement
Powering this collection is the new P.980 automatic movement, a compact calibre offering a reliable 3-day power reserve. The dials retain Panerai’s signature sandwich construction, now enhanced with Super-LumiNova X2, which delivers 10% brighter illumination than its predecessor, ensuring legibility in low-light conditions.
The slimmer case and enhanced water resistance cater to practical use, while the brighter lume and new movement underscore technical prowess.
Luminor Marina Titanio
Alongside the 4 steel versions a new titanium version is launched with a distinct olive green sun-brushed dial and matching calf strap. Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, the PAM03325 case has a strength comparable with steel but with 44% less weight. In my opinion the match of color and material here is spot-on: The vintage, robust tool looks in combination with the latest in product development make this version my personal favorite.
Conclusion
Panerai’s 2025 Luminor Marina line-up successfully marries heritage with innovation. While the models characteristic looks remain largely untouched, underneath the watches are brought up to speed with new elan. Whether on a strap or bracelet, the Luminor Marina remains a bold statement of style and substance. Available now, the steel versions retail at €8,900 on leather strap and €9,900 on bracelet. The titanium PAM03325 comes at €9,900.
