Roger Dubuis celebrates the Tourbillon in many forms

Celebrating one of the best-known complications, the 200-year old tourbillon. Leave it up to Roger Dubuis to do it in a disruptive way..

Roger Dubuis brings an ode to the tourbillon at this years’ Watches and Wonders. The highly admired complication, part of the brands’ catalogue for a long time, has always been a showcase of horological wizardry. And understanding Roger Dubuis, you’ll know that they won’t take anything for granted. No less than 4 new tourbillon pieces will be present in Geneva, with three different takes on the tourbillon concept: From a single tourbillon to a double tourbillon and a central tourbillon. Meet the Excalibur Titanium Monotourbillon, the Excalibur Sunrise Double Tourbillon and the Orbis in Machina.

Excalibur Titanium Monotourbillon

The Excalibur Titanium Monotourbillon is an example of Complexity made Clean. The titanium case and bracelet give an understated, clean expression and make it the purest possible example of the brands’ complexity. The Caliber RD512SQ shows the flying tourbillon caged at 7 o’clock, as we are familiair with from previous iterations. The tourbillon construction, alone good for 63 components, is only mounted from one side, a complex watchmaking challenge when it comes to securing stability but aesthetically pleasing for sure. This boutique-exclusive will be limited to 28 pieces.

Excalibur Sunrise Double Tourbillon

When one tourbillon is not sufficient enough, one can always opt for a Double Tourbillon. The Excalibur Sunrise Double Tourbillon not only adds additional horological complexity, the colourful diamond setting on the bezel and in the bridges assure additional visibility and “wow” when wearing this piece. As the only novelty this fair the Sunrise comes in 45mm.

Orbis in Machina

The Orbis in Machina Central Tourbillon might be the Piece de Resistance this year. Roger Dubuis speaks of a watch with two faces. The front is stylish, symmetric, contemporary and a all round, in opposition with the current design signature of the brand. A look at the casebook shows a more traditional watchmaking view, with the excellent Poincon de Geneva finishing fully visible. A perfect blend of traditional fine watchmaking and the brands’ expresive contemporary DNA.

The pink gold 45mm Orbis in Machina is also a Boutique Exclusive, and will be produced in an edition of 88.

IWC Portugieser Chronograph – the Crocodile in the Swiss Watch Industry

In 1939 two Portuguese businessmen, Rodrigues and Teixeira, paid a visit to the Swiss manufacturer, IWC in Schaffhausen. They both requested a wristwatch with chronometer precision.
